ALTECH Drilling and Investigative Services Ltd.

ALTECH Drilling & Investigative Services Ltd. (ALTECH Ltd) is an affiliated firm providing environmental and geotechnical subsurface remedial/investigative services.  ALTECH Ltd commenced operations in May 2004 and is based in Waterloo, Ontario.

The subsurface investigative group currently operates the Geoprobe® direct-push 6620DT track mounted probe unit and the Advance 6610DT track unit (two units available). The Advance 66 series of probes provide both probing services (i.e. Macro-Core Sampling and Dual Tube Sampling tools), plus 4.25-inch inside diameter hollow stem augering capabilities for 2-inch diameter monitoring well completion. This dual-purpose system can be switched from direct-push mode to augering mode in minutes.

The smaller track unit is especially useful for difficult terrain locations or work within buildings.

The 6600 track units typically conduct the following investigation/remediation-type activities:

  • Direct-push operations (continuous or discrete soil sampling, in-situ groundwater sampling, vapor probes/soil gas work, dual tube work, and small-diameter monitoring well installations/implants)
  • Hollow stem augering (4.25-inch inside diameter) for monitoring well closure and conventional 2-inch monitoring well installations
  • Subsurface injection/placement of treatment fluids (ORC, KMnO4), conducted under a mobile Certificate of Approval (Air) issued by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment

For tougher drilling conditions and deeper overburden and bedrock tasks, ALTECH Ltd operates a Diedrich D-120 truck mount drill. A variety of bedrock coring tools, hollow stem auger, and solid stem auger systems are available. All terrain drills are available as well (track units).

ALTECH Drilling & Investigative Services Ltd. truly enhances the full-service capabilities of the CRA Family of Companies to fulfill client needs.
