CRA Waterloo Annual Food Drive
CRA's Waterloo offices held the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Waterloo Region Food Bank between October 6, 2008 and October 17, 2008. Employees from the 6 area offices donated 8,400 pounds of food and raised $11,400. Employees also donated their time to help prepare food, serve lunches, and clean up after meals at St. John's Soup Kitchen.
This year, instead of bidding on the Shareholders and Associates to do crazy things to raise money, CRA rented a mechanical bull and had employees bid on the volunteer riders to see who would last the longest on the bull. The winner was Alison Carden of eSolutions who managed to stay on the bull for 20 seconds in a 'ride-off' with our President, Ed Roberts.
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region obtains and distributes approximately 3 million pounds of emergency food each year. Almost half of those requiring assistance each year are under 18 years of age.
