CNMP/NMP Development
The overall purpose of nutrient management planning is the protection of the soil and water resources. Most regulatory jurisdictions in North America now require that livestock farmers have an approved Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP) or Nutrient Management Plan (NMP). The United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) rule requires that livestock farms with over 1,000 Animal Units have an approved Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP). The CNMP differs from the NMP, as it requires that the plan incorporate on site manure storage and runoff, integrated conservation, and feeding practices. An NMP can include a nutrient resource/crop production balance, but in certain jurisdictions, it can also include the design and management of an on site manure storage and runoff system.
CRA offers certified expertise in CNMP and NMPs to help you meet the requirements of the regulatory regime at your location. CRA will develop a plan that suits the needs of your operation by managing all available nutrient resources in a comprehensive and environmentally responsible manner. CRA will work with you to integrate any required changes to conserve resources and minimize the environmental, economic, and social impacts to your operation.
