Planning

The Plan Development phase consists of three distinct activities:

  •  Team Development
  •  Plan Documentation
  •  Program Maintenance

Team Development and Training is normally a joint effort involving staff and CRA's consultants.  Plan Documentation encompasses the formulation and writing of an Emergency Action Plan, Emergency Response Plan, Business Continuity Plan, Continuity of Operations Plan, or a Recovery Plan, depending on the task.  CRA's consultants create a performance- based plan and procedures tailored to the client's and facilities needs that are proven functional and accurate.

Team Development
Teams (Planning, Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Recovery) form the backbone of the emergency management program.  With this in mind, CRA's EM/BC Group works very closely with staff to develop a team structure that is balanced and functional.

Plan Documentation
Documenting the research, analysis, strategies, procedures, and teams is the basis of the planning effort.  CRA's EM/BC Group organizes the required information and writes the specific plan (Planning, Emergency Response, Crisis Management, and Recovery) using word processing software or custom-built web-based files that integrate word processing templates and databases.

Program Maintenance
Establishing a Program Maintenance element within the planning effort is as critical as acknowledging the need for planning.  This process includes an annual review of all documented efforts to verify the planning basis has remained consistent; if not, the plan(s) and procedures are updated to reflect current operations.  Program maintenance also includes the "testing" of the plan(s) and procedures to ensure they convey your company's policies and meet/fulfill regulatory requirements.
