Environmental Remediation
CRA provides services for the development, design, and implementation of remediation programs for contaminated sites. Our professionals have up-to-date knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations. They are experienced in applying engineering principles and specialty skills to develop solutions for a range of contaminated site conditions. A strength of the firm is the strategic development of responsive and cost-effective remediation plans that meet regulatory requirements.
CRA is experienced in all aspects of project delivery methods for remediation projects including advisory, traditional engineering/oversight approaches, design-build, design-build-operate, and design-build-own-operate. Strong design capabilities combined with experienced construction professionals ensure that CRA's designs are both well designed and constructable.
CRA has constructed hundreds of remediation systems using both traditional and innovative technologies. Our design and operation and maintenance capabilities complement our construction capabilities. CRA often provides significant cost-saving solutions during the construction phase of a project. Construction has been completed at complex chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, refineries, railroad yards, airports, and municipal infrastructure.
Typical remedial technologies include:
- Soil vapor extraction
- Sparging
- Vapor enhanced recovery
- In situ/ex situ enhanced biological treatment
- Stabilization/solidification/fixation
- Groundwater extraction
- Soil flushing
- Bioreactors
- Air stripping
- Carbon adsorption
- Chemical reduction treatment for heavy metals
- Product recovery (LNAPL and DNAPL)
In addition, CRA has established an internal Innovative Technology Group (ITG) charged with identifying and evaluating emerging technologies. Click here for ITG newsletter archives.
