Abstract: Brownfield redevelopment projects can involve complex project relationships between owners, lenders, municipalities, and consultants. Drawing upon observations from public and private projects, and many brownfield redevelopment incentives of various states, a Brownfield Project Conceptual Model is presented to illustrate project relationships. In addition to the conceptual project management model, a matrix of typical project tasks and contracting opportunities is presented. The conceptual model identifies how multiple parties involved with a Brownfield project may interact, and the roles each may fulfill. The matrix is a tool that can be tailored to any given project, and can be used to identify which parties may actually be expending funds to accomplish site work.
This seminar will help service providers and property owners understand how redevelopment project pieces can be managed and funded.
After this seminar, participants will be able to:
- List potential sources of funding for a Brownfield project;
- Explain the roles of each stakeholder in a Brownfield project; and
- Develop a conceptual project management model for a Brownfield project.
