Our Commitment
CRA is taking steps to improve our social and environmental performance in each and every work place where CRA conducts business. Our Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility Program reflects this commitment. We are working to reduce our environmental footprint and invest in the communities in which we live and conduct business. Various corporate-wide initiatives are outlined below.
Reducing our Environmental Footprint
Environmental Stewards are designated in every CRA office to coordinate corporate-wide efforts to reduce our environmental footprint. CRA is completing an assessment of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and developing a plan to reduce our carbon footprint. Efforts are also underway to complete energy audits and waste audits with the goal to reduce energy and waste consumption.
CRA provides incentives for employees to use more sustainable modes of transportation such as carpooling, public transit, cycling, and walking when traveling to and from work. The Commuter Challenge Program was initiated in August 2007. By December 2007, CRA had received a total of 72 commuting submittals involving 101 employees from 21 offices across Canada and the United States. The total distance saved in five months was 140,600 km or 87,900 miles. This translates into a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 26.7 tonnes or 29.4 tons. The Commuter Challenge continues to gain momentum across the company.
Ethical Business Practices
CRA's Code of Business Ethics reflects our commitment to conduct business with honesty, integrity and fairness. This includes a commitment to conducting our business in accordance with all applicable laws of the countries in which we operate. It also addresses issues related to anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, and confidentiality of information. Learn more

Subcontractors procured by CRA to conduct field services for our projects are also expected to follow all applicable laws and regulations with respect to safety. As part of our projects, CRA may also require additional safety measures. CRA initiated a safety and health contractor evaluation process as part of our current Quality System. These evaluations are conducted by the Safety and Health Department for each new contractor and on a periodic basis for existing contractors to ensure they can meet our Safety First goals.
