CRA uses various three-dimensional visualization tools including EVS (Environmental Visualization System, C Tech Corporation) and ArcView 3-D AnalystTM (ESRI). From our experience, three-dimensional visualization efforts are extremely effective for understanding and communicating complicated environmental systems for our clients.  It has also been a great asset in presentations to both agencies and the public.  During litigation, three-dimensional visualization of subsurface contaminants has been instrumental in reaching settlements with plaintiffs.

CRA has used EVS in the visualization of over 150 sites across North America in the last nine years.  C Tech Corporation's current web site highlights some of CRA's work.  We have been successful at using three-dimensional visualization techniques for various types of environmental scenarios including:

  • Topographic relief and digital aerial photography,
  • Above-ground facilities including buildings and storage areas,
  • Below-ground facilities including underground storage tanks and sewers,
  • Three-dimensional geologic models including block and fence diagrams,
  • Groundwater flow regimes,
  • Groundwater plumes and changes in groundwater chemistry over time.
